Gap for Gimp Download instructions
We're going to be installing gap for gimp. This is an animation software. Here's the web address where you can get it from, it's rather long but I will stick it on the website under the carousel. Gap for gimp, it says 2.6 but its good for 2.8. When we download it don't click on that button but go for this one. So we save and just click on open. This opens the zip folder that it's in, so let's open up the folder within that. In here we have got lots of scripts, extra scripts we can use animation scripts, audio support. We are not going to use the animated cursor as I haven't had much luck with that. And, of course the GAP installer. There is also a 'how to install' on there.
Gap for Gimp installation instructions
If you look back on the website some people have had trouble installing on windows 7. So here's the solution here. If you install GAP into the 'c:/program files' in the gimp folder, that will definitely work. We have a tutorial folder here as well, a good tutorial. It's slightly old but still very good! Let's go ahead and install it, click on run, you will get a warning so click ok on that. You get two choices of language so we will choose English, close all the other programs down, click next and you will have to agree to the licence. Then we just browse to find the destination folder which will be the 'c programs' again.
Gap for Gimp adding required scripts
So we're here now, this is 'c:/programs files/gimp 2'. I am going to cancel setup as I already have it on my computer. Let's get the scripts, there's quite a lot here that we could download. There's also an install scripts text file that you can read which tells you how to do it. Easiest way to do is select all of them, copy, into your gimp2 folder, go into the share folder, go into gimp, into '2.0' and into the scripts folder and go paste. I'm not going to paste as i've already got them all in there.
Gap for Gimp adding audio support
Let's now get the audio support. There's two files here 'lame.exe' and 'sox.exe' and we just copy these. Go into your gimp 2 folder, this time I'm going to the bin folder and again just paste. I've already got them in there. This adds support for your audio, when you make your animations you can add audio to your animations. Prior to this support you could only use 'wave files', this allows 'mp3's' etc. So let's have a look at what we've got. Here we have a new menu which is video, we've got all of this stuff masked video and 'master videoencoders. We've got the utensils, sorry the effects and also the utensils. There's loads of stuff here we will be using when operating with 'GAP'. We also have a 'morph' there.
